Support Work
Help with Daily Life, Right Where You Are
Sometimes the hardest part of the day is just getting started. Getting out of bed. Making breakfast. Catching a bus.
That is where support work comes in.
Support work means we meet you where you are. At home or in the community. Wherever you need a helping hand, we are there with you. We help with the everyday things that feel heavy, so you can focus on the things that matter to you.
No pressure and no judgment. Just a friendly person beside you.
What a Support Worker Does
Every person is different. So is every support worker.
But here are some of the ways we can help:
- Travelling to medical appointments, going shopping, or attending social events
- Providing assistance in household chores, such as cleaning, cooking, and laundry
- Acquiring practical life skills, including budgeting or riding the bus
- Just being available for a cup of coffee and some conversation
We do not come in with a fixed plan. We listen to what you need, then we work together. Small steps. At your pace.

Support Work for People with Psychosocial Challenges
Our organization specialises in working with individuals experiencing psychosocial barriers. In other words, we understand what it means to experience mental illness. But it does not mean your recovery will never happen.
We don’t expect you to be “fine” every time we see you. You can come as you are. We’ll be there to meet you.
Our support staff are trained, patient, and kind. They are available to gently push you or just sit with you.
We Come to You
Ballina-based, we operate in the Northern Rivers Region stretching from Tweed Heads through to Lismore.
We have fully insured vehicles. You will never face any trouble getting around with us, as we are capable of picking you up, dropping you off, and bringing you back home again.
We operate within the community. It means that we do not limit ourselves to an office environment.
Support Work for Agencies
We also work with housing agencies and community mental health teams.
Many of their high needs clients need support work to maintain a tenancy. Staying on top of cleaning, getting to appointments, keeping connected to the community. That is where we step in.
We are reliable, quiet, and caring. Referrals are always welcome.

Why Choose NRSC for Support Work
- We are a small team. That means you get consistency. The same friendly face, week after week.
- We are local. We know the Northern Rivers Region, the streets, the services, the coffee shops.
- We are human. You will never feel like a number. We remember your name, your preferences, and your story.
